Brain Snacks™ Minute
October 21, 2026
Hey there,
Over the last few years, I’ve had time to think about my direction, why I choose what I choose and where I expect to end up.
Not every decision has a clear explanation, and it is only in retrospect I realize.
Somewhere along the way, I seem to find myself somewhere else, completely unplanned — and it seems to me, that though I find a lot of it stressful, I find myself able to recoil. That recoil is important.
I am always left asking one simple question:
“Whose life am I living?”
One of my favorite statements to make is:
“Be malleable.”
I invite you to ponder on your life.
When you feel stressed.
When you want uncontrollable situations to be controllable.
When you keep finding reasons not to do instead of doing.
What about finding the reasons that propel you forward
— not matter the situation, no matter how far you’ve come, no matter how far you seem to have to go.
We seem to set a timeline for ourselves as if life were robotic and time were infinite for us.
But it is not.
We have a finite time on this Earth and the most valuable thing we could do for ourselves is to take each moment, even the hard ones, and enjoy them.
See where you are today
Build from those moments
Reflect on the moments that cause you conflict
Strive for grace
have a little more optimism
What is the worst that could happen?
The idea fails?
The money runs out?
The dream appears more distant?
But which race are you running?
You have been told how and when you should do something, living life on autopilot, yet there may be space for what you actually want. And this is where the philosophy, “Health Begins In The Mind” comes in.
“Most of what we protect, we never needed.”
Be you. Everyone else is taken.
As you go to bed tonight,
What are three things that you are grateful for?
What is one lesson that made you step back?
What is one thing you look forward to tomorrow?
Until next week,
— Joy
P.S. Know someone who'd enjoy this? Forward it along. It's the best compliment a letter can get.
